Owner Lost $1.6 Million… Well, Nearly!

An owner had planned to close his business in just two weeks’ time. At the last minute, he decided to call us to check if there was any chance of finding a buyer.

We convinced him not to close the doors. We strategically marketed the business and successfully sold it a few months later for $1,600,000.

A Multi-Million Dollar Success Story

Years ago, we sold a solid distribution business for $1.25 million. The buyer was able to significantly grow the business and recently, received an offer of $12.0 million!

This highlights the incredible potential of acquiring the right business at the right time. Our expertise ensures you are positioned for long-term success.

Valuation Reality: Trust the Track Record

Only talk to someone who really knows what they are talking about! Upon nearly completing a full assessment of a distribution business, we advised our client his business should sell for between $4.0 million and $5.0 million.

The client insisted he had been advised that it was worth $14.0 million. He was not able to sell the business at that price. Trust proven experience over unrealistic promises.

Double Check Your Tax Position

In a recent sale (actually, a non-sale), the owner assured us he had no Capital Gains Tax (CGT) to pay on the sale of his business at $3.0 million.

Upon thorough investigation, the owner’s accountant confirmed that if the business sale had proceeded, the owner would have had to pay the ATO $1.0 million in CGT.

It pays to double-check. The sale did not proceed, saving the owner from a devastating tax bill.

Ace Advice – Beware of Excess Stock

If your business has a lot of stock, start working your way through it today. Get rid of any damaged or redundant stock, and sell off any items that you have in excess. Your overall plan should be to hold no more than 12 months of stock.

It is far better for you to dispose of unwanted stock now than to include it in the sale. Excess stock interferes with negotiations and can severely devalue your business.

$6.0M to $3.5M

In a recent sale, we had to sell $6.0 million worth of stock for $3.5 million just to get the deal done. Don’t let this happen to you.
